Technical Sales/BI Specialist

Blackline Safety is looking for a Technical Sales/Business Intelligence Specialist to help build and drive our Blackline Vision platform. We have a world class connected safety system and Analytics platform, and we are building a division that helps clients achieve data driven problem solving and deliver actionable insights.

Position Overview:

  • Full-time salary plus commission
  • Compensation includes health benefits, car allowance, expense coverage, paid vacation, stock plan
  • Travel availability of 50%


  • Inbound sales, and sales support:
    • Drive sales growth through handling all inbound sales inquiries and supporting our sales team with our Blackline Vision offering,
    • Provide field level support conducting end-user calls with Client Blackline Vision stakeholders, 
    • Support evaluations with analysis of reports already built, 
    • Timely follow up on leads created by Blackline Vision demand generation efforts, 
    • Attend industry trade shows promoting the Blackline brand growth, industry networking, securing new leads, and enhancing relationships with existing clients, 
    • Provide weekly Blackline Vision pipeline opportunity updates, 
    • Deliver Blackline Vision training to internal users and clients alike, 
    • Self-motivated and able to work independently to meet or exceed goals,
  • Relationship management
    • Gather requirements for new customers and write statements of work and proposals,
    • Be the point of contact for a portfolio of Blackline Vision clients,
    • Understand and be able to solve problems using data,
    • Be the interface between clients, and the Blackline Vision technical team,
    • Communicate timelines, and scope limitations to clients,
    • Keep the CRM and ERP systems up to date with client communications and sales

What will you do?
You will be part of the client facing and sales team of Blackline Vision. You will be well versed in our portfolio of offerings and add to it based on client needs. You will follow up on enquiries, gather requirements, and run discovery workshops with clients. You will be responsible for communicating the requirements to the technical teams and assure successful communication during delivery in both scope and timeline of the project. You will be the point of contact for your clients if any technical, or non-technical questions might arise.

What We're Looking For

Who are you?
You believe big data helps businesses solve real-world problems. You enjoy working with clients, gathering requirements, and working in a project-based environment. You are well versed in writing requirement documents and statements of work for BI/Data projects. You have experience using CRM systems. You have some experience in sales and marketing. You are familiar, but not necessarily an expert at data visualization and data driven problem solving. You like to explore problems and identify opportunities for data driven solutions. You can communicate these ideas to users that might not be well versed in data. You are self-motivated and excited to follow through with client needs. You enjoy travelling.

Skills & Experience:

  • Post-secondary degree (Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Analytics, Information Technology, Digital Transformation Consulting, or related),
  • 5 years in a client or end-user facing role,
  • 2 years of data analysis experience (Including academia and personal projects,)
  • 1 year of experience with PowerBI or a similar tool (Including academia and personal projects),
  • Strong communication skills in written, spoken, and visualization mediums,
  • Experience writing statements of work and proposals,
  • Excellent presentation skills,
  • Excellent command of Excel,
  • Experience working with technical and sales teams,
  • Comfort troubleshooting and problem solving with data and visualizations,
  • Preferred: Has experience in developing or being part of the development of BI solutions,
  • Ideal: competence in French or Spanish
  • Preferred: LEAN and or a six-sigma certification
