Product Validation Specialist - Sensors and Gas Detection (Calgary, Alberta)

We are currently looking for a Product Validation Specialist – Sensors and Gas Detection who is eager to work in a product development environment. Hands-on testing of new and innovative product designs is core to this role. As a member of the Quality team, you will be supporting the design and testing of our next generation offering as well as the existing ones. The Blackline Safety System incorporates wearable personal devices, vehicle mounted equipment, satellite and cellular communication channels and an advanced web portal.

The Product Validation Specialist – Sensors and Gas Detection is responsible for ensuring that all the components, device firmware and hardware work together in harmony and that customer needs are met, with a specific focus on the sensors within the system.

Responsibilities

  • Developing & documenting test plans.
  • Developing & documenting test methods.
  • Developing test suites for gas sensors and other components.
  • Providing evidence that tests conducted are valid.
  • Testing system performance and troubleshooting system behavior.
  • Ensure system components work together and customer needs are met.
  • Executing test plans as well as recording and summarizing results.
  • Designing and operating automated test equipment.
  • Support the rest of the Blackline organization with your deep understanding of the Blackline products and services.

What We're Looking For

Who are you?

  • You are highly motivated, independent, attentive to details and have a disciplined approach to problem-solving.
  • You have strong interpersonal skills and can find mutually beneficial outcomes to conflict.
  • You prefer to work on multiple tasks simultaneously and adapt to quickly changing priorities in a high-growth environment.
  • You have 5+ years in verification/validation testing and a degree/diploma Chemistry.
  • You have high standards and motivate others to strive to meet them.

Required Skills

  • Experience with testing gas detection equipment.
  • Experience with Python scripting is an asset.
  • Familiar with quality tools like SPC, Gage R&R, DOE, DFMEA, PFMEA, Control Plan, 8D etc.
  • Familiarity with gas sensor technology
  • Familiarity with GPS, cellular and satellite communications.
  • Ability to operate independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Experience with defect tracking software (e.g., JIRA)
  • Experience with Test Rail Test Case Management Software or similar is an asset.
