Industrial Company Purchases Blackline's Next Generation Safety Monitor

CALGARY, ALBERTA--(Marketwire - May 15, 2012) - Blackline GPS (TSX VENTURE:BLN) ("Blackline") is pleased to announce the purchase of Blackline's second generation Loner SMD safety monitoring device by a Fortune 300 worldwide provider of industrial gases, for Canada-wide deployment. This new customer is the second major player in the compressed gases market to adopt Blackline's Loner technology as their product of choice to monitor employee safety.

"We take great pride in extending organizations' safety programs with the integration of real-time safety monitoring technology," said Greg Rude, Blackline's VP Industrial Sales. "Loner SMD is a category-defining product that pushes past the simple combination of wireless location and panic button - it automates safety monitoring and includes True Fall Detection technology."

By law, a growing number of regions require organizations to periodically monitor personnel who work alone - out of sight or sound of others - through periodic communication and check-in processes. Although phone or radio-based check-in procedures may comply with legislation, they provide little practical safety monitoring value. It may take up to two hours for monitoring personnel to determine that a worker has not checked in and much can transpire during that time.

Blackline's Loner SMD doesn't simply comply with work alone requirements - it provides true, practical safety monitoring capability with continuous, automatic monitoring of the worker's safety. Adoption of real-time safety monitoring is becoming a new best practice, delivering safety incidents instantly to other personnel who are capable of facilitating an efficient emergency response.

Loner SMD is a person-worn device with True Fall Detection™ technology that communicates safety alerts to monitoring personnel when falls are detected, differentiated from other vigorous activity such as jumping off a loading dock or running down stairs. Accelerometers and gyros used for fall detection additionally detect and communicate man-down events. Compared to competitive solutions that require the press and hold of an emergency for several seconds - time that a worker may not have - Loner SMD includes an intuitive emergency latch that can be instantly released to request help. For an efficient, pin-point response, monitoring personnel map the worker's GPS location while Loner SMD's multi-tone audible and bright visual indicators help emergency responders quickly locate the worker.
