Blackline Launches First True Fall-Detection Solution at NSC 2011

Diana Winger October 31, 2011

PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA--(Marketwire - Oct. 31, 2011) - At the National Safety Council's 2011 Congress & Expo – the world's largest annual event for environmental health and safety professionals – Blackline GPS ("Blackline") (TSX VENTURE:BLN) will launch its first mobile worker safety product incorporating True Fall Detection™ technology.

Compact in size and belt-worn, Loner® FDU features Bluetooth® wireless communication technology that – when paired with a worker's smartphone running Blackline's Loner Mobile safety application – monitors worker movements using internal accelerometers and gyroscopes. If the worker falls or becomes motionless, Loner FDU communicates the safety incident to monitoring personnel via Loner Mobile and smartphone wireless communication.

"Falls are a top threat in worker safety," says Cody Slater, Blackline Chairman & CEO. "Loner FDU features internal micro-electro-mechanical sensors that accurately detect falls while also monitoring for man-down incidents where a worker becomes motionless."

Rather than incorporating an emergency button that may be difficult to press when needed, Loner FDU incorporates an intuitive emergency latch that makes it easy for the worker to call for help at any time while minimizing false alerts.

All safety alerts communicated to monitoring personnel include the geographic location of the worker in distress, enabling an immediate and efficient emergency response.

Loner FDU will be on display at booth 3758 of the National Safety Council's 2011 Congress & Expo in Philadelphia from October 31st to November 2nd.
